Steven Adler Calls Current GNR Lineup 'Hacks'

The firestorm of the Guns N’ Roses ‘will they, won’t they?’ saga continues to gather fuel as former GN’R drummer Steven Adler calls the current Guns N’ Roses lineup ‘Axl and His Hacks,’ while once again declaring his advocacy of an ‘Appetite for Destruction’-era reunion at the band’s upcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

We exclusively broke the news on Tuesday (March 27) that Slash “would love to” reunite at the Rock Hall induction ceremony. The next day, Adler responded to Slash’s decree by also stating that he wants the reunion to happen.

Now, in another Loudwire exclusive, we’ve got the latest update on ‘Guns-gate’ with our interview with Steven Adler, which occurred this very evening.

“If it was up to me, we would have been playing for the fans a long time ago,” says Adler. “Unfortunately, I have no say in that. I’m behind it 100 percent … 111 percent! Put it this way; if the five original GN’R guys don’t get up there and play, I’m going up there just on the drum set and playing a couple of songs from ‘Appetite for Destruction.’ It’s for the fans. To me it’s just a rock ‘n’ roll band, but it’s a rock ‘n’ roll band that I’ve gotten so much love and respect from all over the world.”

“He’s my brother. I know he’s up to it,” Adler says about Slash and the Rock Hall reunion. “He wants to do it. I want to do it. Just from what I hear, Izzy [Stradlin]‘s not gonna show up and Axl will probably want to play with his hack band — his band of hacks. ‘Axl and His Hacks’ — it shouldn’t even be Guns N’ Roses. He’s just driving that name into the freakin’ ground. ‘Axl and His Hacks.’

Adler continued, “My grandmother always said, “Time heals all wounds.” Slash and Axl are one to each other. It’s not like one of them slept with one of them’s wives or anything — and even that’s forgivable after a while. There is no reason to be upset.”

Stay tuned for our full interview with Steven Adler featuring ‘Adler’ vocalist Jacob Bunton coming very soon.

The Cockroach Sessions

Here is the Standard Version of "The Cockroach Sessions," in its entirety:

Click to listen

'The Cockroach Sessions' is a project that started back in August 2011 as The Glow Inc. began scoring the Olympus 2207 demo.

It is a collection of songs that range from orchestral, to electro-rock, to industrial with elements of world music. Some of them were done for Olympus 2207 and were remixed and remastered for the album, others were done for the N.O.W project, while half of them were done exclusively for this album. It's mostly inspired by Nine Inch Nails, Mark Morgan, and the Fallout and Silent Hill soundtracks.

The cover was drawn by Axel Torvenius.

If you really like the album, and feel like helping the artist, you can do so by buying an extended version ( 9 more tracks ) of the album HERE

Former U.S President to induct GN'R into the Rock Hall?

There's been a lot of speculation as to who will induct Guns N' Roses into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on April 14.

Chuck D's going to be inducting the Beastie Boys! Chris Rock is inducting the Red Hot Chili Peppers!

But -- in typical GN'R fashion -- no presenter for GN'R has been announced yet.

However, Craig Hlavaty at HoustonPress.com has an inspired idea, "someone who was just as integral to the '90s as the band's Use Your Illusion project. A man whose own decadence almost totally undid his own legacy..." [READ MORE]

Matt Sorum on HOF: We'll all be sitting at the same table

via Blabbermouth
Matt Sorum spoke to Billboard.com about the band's upcoming induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

The 27th annual ceremony will be held on April 14 in Cleveland, Ohio, home to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame And Museum. Also scheduled to be inducted are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, The Small Faces/Faces, Donovan and Laura Nyro. Freddie King well enter the Hall Of Fame as an Early Influence, while the late producer and TV host Don Kirshner will receive the Ahmet Ertegun (nonperformer) Award and producers Cosimo Matassa, Tom Dowd and Glyn Johns will receive the Award For Musical Excellence.

The ceremony will be taped for broadcast by HBO, which plans to air it in early May.

"We're all sitting at the same table, so it should be cool," Sorum told Billboard.com. "After we get a little bit of food in us, hopefully someone will get up and want to play, but I don't know. I'm not the guy to ask. I just hope it works out."

Sorum, who joined the band in 1990 following the dismissal of Steven Adler, said that "there's no real plans" regarding a possible performance of the classic GN'R lineup at the induction but added that the uncertainty is "in tradition, GUNS N' ROSES style."

"I feel great about [being inducted]," he said. "I'm glad I made the cut. I don't know who that secret society is that votes you into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, but I'm glad I have some friends in there, somehow. The original band got in and I got in and [keyboardist] Dizzy Reed and that's it, seven of us. It'll be a great night."

Sorum told Australia's The Vine in December he's hoping for the best but prepared for the worst when the band gets inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April. Sorum said, "It's going to be as big of a train wreck as the Sex Pistols, Blondie, or any of those other bands. That's my prediction. Or Van Halen, which I don't know if you saw, but we [Velvet Revolver] were involved in that. Train wreck; it was a complete train wreck. But maybe it won't; maybe it will be a miracle; I hope for that and put out the positive vibrations."

Although singer Axl Rose was ambivalent in a VH1 interview about reuniting with his old GUNS bandmates at the induction, Sorum added that he's wary of making predictions about the big night. He explained, "It's better if I just go, 'I don't know shit.' Which is the absolute truth. They could be in a room right now . . . and I wouldn't be invited, you know what I'm saying?"

Slash says Guns N' Roses is "Not Playing" at Rock Hall Induction

via Blabbermouth
Slash spoke to the QMI Agency earlier today (Wednesday, March 21) about the band's upcoming induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Slash told QMI Agency he had mixed emotions about the honor. "Either it hasn't hit me yet or maybe it's been so long since I had anything to do with Guns N' Roses that I just don't really get it," he said.

"And we're not playing. I would imagine that they asked us to play, but I know that we're not playing," he added.

Slash said that he expects former GN'R drummer Steven Adler to be there, too. "I could be positive Steven will be there," he said. "Steven wouldn't miss it." He was less certain of the attendance of the rest of GN'R's classic lineup, specifically the band's lead singer Axl Rose. The two have not spoken in years and Rose continues to hold a hostile stance toward his former bandmate.

"I don't know," Slash said when asked if Axl will make an appearance at the induction ceremony. "I would assume so but we haven't talked about it."

Duff McKagan told RollingStone.com that there has been "no communication" about the original members of the band performing together when the group is inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Asked if he knew what was going to happen at the ceremony, McKagan answered, "I don't. I know I'm going to go. I can't, at all, speak for anybody else. And won't. I'll be there with bells on." But he added, "There's been no communication about anyone playing. There was probably a day in the mid-1990s where I would have tried to gather the troops, but I'm just not that guy anymore. It's too frustrating to change anyone else . . . I'm not even sure I'd want to change how anyone else sees a situation."

On whether he hoped that the original lineup would perform together at the event, McKagan said, "I think it would be killer. Do I hope to? That's a tricky question. It would be awesome. You have those day dreams like, 'We'll go up and play 'Nightrain' and 'Brownstone' and throw down the microphone and drop off! That'll be killer!' But I doubt that'll happen."

McKagan, singer Axl Rose, guitarists Slash and Izzy Stradlin, and drummer Steven Adler will all be inducted into the Hall, along with later members, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and drummer Matt Sorum.

Robin Finck and "Brain" Mantia join Guns N' Roses

In a rare eventful show, Guns N' Roses were joined onstage on March 12, 2012 by former lead guitarist Robin Finck (who played guitar on "Better"), former drummer Bryan "Brain" Mantia (who played congas) and former Skid Row lead singer Sebastian Bach (who sang alongside Axl Rose on "My Michelle"). Aside from the guest appearances, Guns N' Roses also performed the Rolling Stones' classic "Dead Flowers", a song they haven't played since 1993, and Aerosmith's "Mama Kin," a song which hasn't played live since 1992.

More info and hopefully videos will be posted here as they become available.

Guns N’ Roses Won’t Perform At Rock Hall Induction

Stereogum
Well, this sucks. Our best chance to see all five estranged but, amazingly, still-alive original members of Guns N' Roses performing onstage together was this year’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony.

GN'R are one of the bands being honored this year, keyboardist Dizzy Reed has said that all those original members would show up, and Axl Rose has refused to rule out the possibility of a reunion performance at just this one occasion. But as Blabbermouth points out, baldheaded Letterman buddy and Hall Of Fame musical director Paul Shaffer recently said on Twitter that the ceremony wouldn’t last too long because GN'R aren’t performing. There’s still time for everyone to change their minds, I suppose, but the frustrating continued existence of the the current GN'R formation isn’t likely to change anytime soon.

UPDATE: According to the Vice President of the company that produces “Paul Shaffer’s Day In Rock,” Shaffer didn’t actually write the Tweet. It came from a staff member at the company, and nobody’s quite sure how the ceremony will go. So maybe there’s hope? Probably not, though.

Don't despair, you can still shell-out $150 to see Axl perform with his hired sessions musicians next time he tours South America.

Sorum talks HOF Reunion and says that he'll be available w/ Adler for "whatever goes down"

via Metal Hammer
Matt Sorum's recent comments on Guns N’ Roses’ Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction, and the future of Velvet Revolver, who recently reunited for a special gig with original singer Scott Weiland.

“People keep asking me about the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, and I’m really like the last guy to ask,” he told Komp 92.3 Radio in Las Vegas. “I was the guy that joined Guns N’ Roses and I was lucky to get the gig. And I was sort of there to be of service to the rest of the band. And the band is Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan and Izzy Stradlin. Yeah, was I in the band? Sure. But when it comes down to making the decisions, I was the last guy to hear about it. So when people ask me [about Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame], I go, ‘To be honest with you, I really don’t know what’s gonna happen.’ I just don’t know. Will I be there and be available for whatever happens? Yeah.

“And at the same time, I would like to see [original Guns N' Roses drummer] Steven Adler up there. . . We are getting along now, which is great, because there was a lot of years where, I think — and I’ve said this in the press before — I was sort of like the guy who was having sex with his ex-girlfriend, you know what I mean?! It’s like, you don’t like the guy at all if you don’t know him, but it still pisses you off. It’s like, ‘He’s with my old lady’ kind of thing. But I think once he got to know me, he realized that I wasn’t there to [screw] him over or whatever, and if it wouldn’t have been me, it would have been some other guy. It’s like he was out of the band. I think people maybe that are GN’R fans of the original lineup have to kind of look at it that way.

“Guns N’ Roses would have either imploded completely after Steven, or someone would have come and replaced him. There was about three or four guys they tried out before me, and luckily, I was the guy that sort of stepped into that position. After a lot of years and a lot of healing for Steven, he was able to accept the fact that that was the situation. And I have always supported him in the fact that, I said in the press a few times, if Guns N’ Roses ever got back together, it would be cool if I played the ‘Use Your Illusion’ stuff and he played the ‘Appetite’ stuff, and if he was healthy enough to do that, I would support him on that. To me, it’s not about the money, ’cause if it does come down, which, I don’t wanna tell you what the offers have been, but I know they’re in the multi-, multi-million-dollar range. Yeah, if I was asked, what would I say? Probably yes. But Steven’s in line for that before I am.

“As far as GN’R and the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, me and him are gonna go there together; I said I’d meet him there. It’s part of our lives, it’s part of what we’ve done and what we accomplished. And he was there for the beginning and I was the guy that came in and, basically, went out there and helped send the GN’R message to the rest of the world.”

Of Velvet Revolver status he adds; “”We haven’t closed the door on it, because it’s not a thing that we really wanna break up, but at the same time, we haven’t found the right guy. And to go back with Scott, it’s like a little bit dangerous good territory. I mean, I love the guy. The chemistry, as a band, is great onstage, but backstage it wasn’t great. I think, for me, I’m at a certain age now where it’s like I wanna be able to go out and play music and have a really good time doing it. If I make some money, that’s great, too. But the main thing is, I don’t really wanna deal with too much crap anymore. I think we’re all getting a little too old.. We’re not 20 anymore, so going out there and having to deal with a bunch of crap is not really where our headspace is at.”

It’s been suggested by keyboardist Dizzy Reed and others that the Guns N’ Roses entire original lineup will all be present at the Hall Of Fame induction on April 14.
