Martin Scorsese has announced that he is to make a documentary about late reggae star Bob Marley.
The Oscar-winning director wants to follow his 2005 Bob Dylan documentary No Direction Home and forthcoming Rolling Stones film Shine a Light with a movie about the legendary singer.
According to Variety, the project has the backing of Marley's family, with son Ziggy acting as an executive producer.
The Steve Bing-financed film will be released on February 6, 2010 to mark what would have been Marley's 65th birthday.
The musician died of cancer in May 1981 at the age of 36.
Reverend and the Makers singer Jon McClure recently revealed that he has been making music with Marley's family in Jamaica.
