So, "box office" determines whether a tour is "hot" or not.
Bullshit, that's what it is.

?????
LOL!
How would you determine it?
Financial indicators are hardly the best ones to assess if a tour is good or not. I tend to think it's music, the way the band sounds tight or not, the way they connect to people or not.
So of course it's important for a band to have a good box office. But it can't be the only indicator. Otherwise we can as easily be talking about a bank or bacon selling company. It isn't quite the same, is it?
So, really, hope they do well, of course. But i'd rather read that they are a success as a band, that axl keeps doing in 2010 what he did in 1993, that ashba is doing a hell of a job, that gn'r stands for rock n roll and not some has-beens sitting on their asses all day long, self-indulgent just because they can.
So that's how I would determine it. How would you assess gn'r first overseas tour in 87 in England? Do you think it was the fkn box office?

Wouldn't you say that whether or not the music sounds good is completely subjective?
Is Billboard supposed to conduct exit polls outside the arena and ask each fan if they thought the band was tight?
Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
yeah, mack, i tend to protest a lot. specially when i think i'm right lol :)
I ask again: How would you assess gn'r first overseas tour in 87 in England? Do you think it was the fkn box office?
The same fans that you underrated as "opinion polls", are just the same people who buy the tickets.
You are trying to materialize the concept of hot tour, i get it.
But just as financial parameters are different from economical parameters, the same with concerts. You have 1 possible indicator amongst many other possible. Consistently bad reviews, all over the place, from many and different locations, bad logistics, concerts cancelled all the time, etc can also classify if a tour is "hot" or not.
Otherwise, if you only look at the box office criteria, how would you classify Pearl Jam's, Alice in Chains arenas tours? Are they lesser tours than...Coldplay?
Again, pardon for my protesting ;)
