GN'R Blames Major League Baseball for Band's Silence on Tour

Band has it's lackeys "call-out" MLB Senior Editor Doug Miller.

We've all noticed the lack of updates on GunsNRoses.com ever since the recruitment of DJ Ashba (March 21, 2009).

With the Japanese dates coming up and the Canadian ones scheduled, one would expect the band to actually get off their asses and update the official website with the usual fluff-talk about how it's going to be great, et al. The effort is mostly symbolic; that way people would know that the band acknowledges the dates and is committed to them. Last month, Mysteron seemed to agree with this on this back at HTGTH:

"It is important though that the band add credence by putting these dates on their official website. An official announcement would be even better."

However, yesterday, Mysteron, a beloved 'insider' at the HTGTH community, went completely around and posted the following:

"I want to apologize to GN'R for my comments. MLB currently own the rights to, and control input to, the official GN'R website. However ...dot dot dot Hopefully Guns can find another official way to communicate with the fans in the meantime."

MLB.com and former GN'R manager Merck Mercuriadis came into an agreement of sorts in 2006 regarding the online shop features of GN'R dot com. While the domain listings maintain the ownership of GNR.com is solely in the hands of our man Axl, technical and administrative contacts direct one solely to MLB.com staff. Go figure.

MLB.com have apparently stepped back of providing content around the Japanese dates of the 2007 tour. Before this, most (if not all) articles on the GN'R site were written by their local Senior Writer Doug Miller, who currently continues to write for MLB.com. However, the website managed to be updated semi-regularly up to the recruitment of DJ Ashba, with or without MLB.com's direct consent.

So, bummer. The CD release came and went and no-one at MLB had a problem with the content. It's only a year after that GN'R, having clandestinely sneaked in numerous updates, have finally reached the end of their rope.

I do hope Guns find another official way to communicate with the fans. GN'R Online was an Interscope-manned site, who must've forgotten the password somewhere in early 2003, before transforming it more into the line of their generic band websites.

The only dangerous thing about the modern GNR is their dangerously sloppy management.

Slash Wanted to get Jack White on His Solo Album

The star tells all to MusicRadar

With the speculation about special guests continuing in earnest, Slash revealed to MusicRadar that the one artist he couldn't pin down to play on his forthcoming solo album was The White Stripes/Raconteurs/Dead Weather star Jack White.

Slash's eponymous solo album will be released early in 2010 on Roadrunner, with Classic Rock magazine set to bundle the CD with a special collectible issue a full four weeks before it is available online or in record stores.

"Pretty much everyone else that I went after I managed to get."

MusicRadar spoke to Slash yesterday following the Classic Rock Awards and heard the album, but for now their lips are sealed.

They can tell us that the supporting cast of guest musicians is very impressive indeed, and includes rock legends, pop starlets and some genuine surprises. But not Jack White.

Slash told them, "I wanted to get Jack White to sing on something, but he didn't want to sing. He said 'I'll play drums, I'll play guitar, but I don't wanna sing.' He was one guy that I wanted to work with. Pretty much everyone else that I went after I managed to get."

Slash Wants to Leave Days of Guns N' Roses Behind

Slash has said he wants to leave his days as a member of Guns N' Roses behind him as he prepares to release his first solo album.

"I just feel for people that don't seem to get it. All things considered, it's been a really long time, and everybody's moved on," he told BBC 6 Music.

"At the same time I appreciate that I was part of a band that had such a huge impact and touched so many people, and I feel bad for them that it's not around - but it is what it is..."

His forthcoming solo album will be released on Roadrunner next spring and features the vocal talents of Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, Lemmy, Fergie, and Andrew Stockdale.

He said he had taken his time to lift the lid on the heavyweight guests appearing on the record. "I've been very low key on this, because I was waiting for all the releases for all the different singers, but some of the cats are out of the bag. There's a lot of people on the record."

He added, "It's just nice to be in charge of my own destiny, even if it's just for one record. Just not to be in a group situation, and at the mercy of what everybody as a whole feels, but being responsible for my own decisions and having the final say. It's nice, ‘cause I've been doing this diplomatic band stuff for so long, I needed to get it out of my system."

All that diplomacy has given Slash some skills to take to his work as a solo artist, especially when collaborating with vocalists.

"As a musician, the more experience you get from playing with a lot of different people, the more you learn how to adapt.

The other is perseverance - keep going no matter what. To establish in your mind what you're going to do, and you just keep plodding along. The longer you do it, the more you realise that you have a purpose."

Slash has another hope for his solo effort – that it might stop people asking him if he's going to rejoin Guns N' Roses.

Slash Signs European Deal with Roadrunner Records

Roadrunner Records has announced the signing of guitarist Slash for the forthcoming European release of his debut solo album, Slash, in spring 2010.

Slash will see Roadrunner Records enter into a unique and innovative association with a UK media partner — the special-interest media group Future. In a brand new concept in record distribution the standard album release will be preceded by a "fan pack," in which the Roadrunner Records album will be bundled together with a highly collectable special issue of Future Publishing's Classic Rock magazine dedicated to Slash's career. This will be the first format of the album available anywhere in the world.

Slash will release a two-track CD single in Japan on November 11 containing the song "Sahara" (featuring singer Koshi Inaba of the Japanese hard rock duo B'Z) and a version of the GN'R classic "Paradise City" (featuring Cypress Hill and Fergie).

"Sahara" is expected to appear on Slash's forthcoming solo album. According to the guitarist, "the [record] is in its mixing stage and the mixes to this point sound great. We have recorded 18 songs, with one more I want to track." He added, "the record is still slated for a February/March release."

Music producer BigChris Flores released some great news via Twitter! Looks like Rihanna is taking her rock edge to a new level by working with rock royalty.

The music producer updated his Twitter with the following messages:

- Got L.A. Reid coming to the studio with Slash today, to lay guitars on a new Rihanna song.

- Session with Slash for Rihanna went great.
