Gilby Clarke - Pawnshop Guitars

In contrast to Izzy and Duff's respective debuts, Gilby's first solo effort isn't what I would call essential listening, but it is a good album.

Released on July 25, 1994, guests include: Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, Axl Rose, Dizzy Reed, Ted Andreadis, and Frank Black!

Gilby covers The Clash's "Jail Guitar Doors," and The Rolling Stones' "Dead Flowers" (which Guns had been playing on the Use Your Illusion Tour).

The opening track/first single, "Cure Me ... Or Kill Me," still plays on the radio 15 years later. Its a strong song, but its just not my style. Gilby has always seemed highly overrated to me, and one has to wonder if he was brought in after Izzy's departure for his guitar skills or sea-faring rescue abilities (see "Estranged" video).
