MTV to Play Music Videos

"M" BACK IN MTV:

MTV is recommitting to music videos. Starting April 1, and we're not fooling, the station will air clips from 3-9AM during the week.

Number of days and frequency are still up in the air, but check this space and we'll let you know when we hear more

HITS DAILY DOUBLE

Also, as you've probably already heard by now, MTV has launched a new video on demand site where they plan to serve up every video and live performance they have ever aired.

It's called MTV MUSIC. Redundant, Ironic or Oxymoronic name? You decide.

You can compare YouTube's video and sound quality with MTV MUSIC's below.

GOOD MORNING MTV

Network Will Air Videos 3-6 a.m. Monday Through Thursday

March 30, 2009

The industry has been buzzing about it for week, and now it’s a done deal.
MTV is starting to play music videos again.

Starting yesterday, AMTV, a six-hour block of music videos and advertising, will air from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

The spots will also include news, interviews and performances in a throwback to the network’s origins as a 24-hour music video channel.

The Viacom-owned net has mostly shown music videos on its digital channels and as interstitial programming in its line-up of mostly reality fare.

MTV GM Stephen Friedman told the N.Y. Times the new schedule “creates more sampling opportunities” for viewers. “It gives us a much wider palette to experiment.”

The network is also bringing back Unplugged, its acoustic performance series.
