RIP Ron Schneider

via Marc Canter:
"Very sad news, Ron Schneider passed away today 1/29/10.

He was the bass player in Tidus Sloan and Roadcrew with Slash and was a GN'R roadie from 1986 to 1988.

He was one of my best friends and was very close to the band. He was loved by everyone that knew him. He will always hold a special place in our hearts. He will be missed."

Shit... I was wondering what happened to him after all these years. Used to work with the guy back in Minnesota. This was pre-mass internet and one day he just started telling me about his former life and I thought he was an extremely likable dude that happened to be completely full of it. Then he showed me his scrapbook - all the pics of world before he found himself in exile, his live videos of Tidus Sloan, and on and on.

He'd take me out to shows when bands he knew were in town - I got to meet all these crazy musicians. I was just joking to a friend that Mustaine was kind of an ass when I met him and Schneider popped into my head again. Ron sort of vanished after he got clean and I always wanted to try and track him down. See how he was doing. Wish I knew what happened.

Here's to you, Ron. Hope you went out the way you wanted to.
